CLASS DESCRIPTION

Gentle Chair for strength and balance (with standing options)
We encourage clients to register for 2 classes per week to gain the most benefit from a regular yoga practice, however exceptions can be made.
This gentle, slower paced Hatha Yoga practice uses a chair as a prop, with seated and standing options, and is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.  It is a mindfulness-based approach where all muscle groups are worked, allowing each posture to be comfortable while still being balanced.  You get a warm-up, breathing practice, stretching /strengthening, balance work and relaxation.   This class will offer modifications to make yoga more accessible for all people, whether it be due to low mobility or disability issues.  It is also perfect for anyone new to yoga or for those who just want to take it slower and explore their practice in a safe and comfortable environment of self-acceptance and restoration.

Gentle Hatha (mat practice)

This gentle Hatha Yoga based class is the perfect balance of effort and ease.  The intent of this class is to stretch and strengthen the body; to activate the core by strengthening and releasing the tissues that supports the spine and pelvis; and to practice breathing (Pranayama) as a source of strength or relaxation.  No yoga experience required, however participants should be able to get up from and down to a mat.  We will start with a gentle warm up lying and/or kneeling on the mat.  Then make our way to standing to work on strengthening the legs and improving balance (this also engages the core).  A chair may be used for balance during standing practice. We will return down on the mat with gentle stretching and finish with a well-deserved relaxation.
